Camp Assistant Aquatics Director

What will you do all summer (in addition to having fun with your campers and fellow team members)? An Aquatics Director is responsible for:
Supervising campers ages three (3) to fifteen (15)
Actively participating in all camp activities
Providing a safe and fun learning environment and serving as a positive role model
Position Objective/Purpose
ESF is hiring motivated leaders with prior experience supervising children and adults who believe in ESF's mission, build positive relationships and ensure the well-being of others.
Position Scope Factors
Aquatics Director hours are from 8:00am to 5:15pm, Monday through Friday. Start and end times may vary depending on the location and camp. Depending on the location, Aquatics Directors work up to ten (10) consecutive weeks from mid-June through mid-August.
Essential Job Responsibilities
Be present at the pool at all times and ensure pool safety
Direct and supervise all campers in and around the pool area
Delegate, assign and communicate Lifeguard placement/zone coverage
Manage and develop Aquatics staff; conduct mid-summer and end of summer evaluations
Conduct morning briefings daily with Aquatics team and participate in leadership meetings
Interface with camp parents/guardians through written and verbal communication
Coordinate daily swim and enrichment lesson schedules
Supervise all swim lessons daily
Ensure Instructors are prepared to teach swimming skills on a daily basis
Evaluate camper's swimming abilities; identify and meet camper needs
Track camper swim progress and prepare awards for completed levels
Ensure buddy checks are being performed according to ESF policy
Perform pool maintenance and testing; record any incidents
Complete paperwork as assigned including weekly progress reports
Fulfill additional duties that may be assigned by the Site Director

Experience Requirements
Previous experience working with children in a supervisory capacity
Prior staff supervision experience
Performance management and facilitation experience
Previous experience working as a Lifeguard/Swim Instructor or willingness to get certified
Experience teaching swim lessons or willingness to learn
Prior camp experience preferred
Certification Requirements
Current Lifeguard certification including First Aid, CPR and AED
ESF will reimburse Aquatic Team members after a successful camp season for completing and passing a local or ESF-run Lifeguard certification course (Note: ESF offers First Aid, CPR and Lifeguard certification courses; inquire with your Hiring Director for more information)
Water Safety Instructor (WSI) certification preferred
Education Requirements
Bachelor's degree
Reporting Relationships
Reports directly to the Site Director
Working Conditions and Physical Requirements
Must have the physical capability to see (near and far), climb, bend, swim, float, kneel and carry individuals during rescue operations
Ability to push/pull, lift and carry a minimum of thirty-five (35) pounds
Must be able to perform all skills required for Lifeguarding, First Aid, CPR and AED certification(s)
Endurance to guard the pool and surrounding area for six (6) to eight (8) hours per day outside in varying weather conditions
Ability to respond to emergency situations which may require running up to one (1) mile in some cases) and climbing stairs
Possess physical capacity to fulfill all Essential Job Functions - Responsibilities listed above

Don't Be Fooled

The fraudster will send a check to the victim who has accepted a job. The check can be for multiple reasons such as signing bonus, supplies, etc. The victim will be instructed to deposit the check and use the money for any of these reasons and then instructed to send the remaining funds to the fraudster. The check will bounce and the victim is left responsible.
